NBVTC's new website goes live!

Welcome to our brand new website

15/05/2012
Finally, here it is! As anticipated, after several weeks of work and consultations, the new NBVTC website is online. The master plan to make its launch coincide with the 2012 Stoke Goldington Steam Rally, our premier event in the calendar, came together faultlessly. With only one small exception: this year there was no Stoke Goldington Rally...

It must have been immensely disappointing for all those involved in the organisation, as well as for all those who were eagerly waiting for this year's event (including your webmaster) to miss out on the 35th edition of the show. Unfortunately weeks of rain had transformed the idyllic green pastures surrounding the village into a mud bath. Upon inspections the organisers had no choice but to call the show off, on the ground that the necessary safety standards could not be met.

I remember that last year the show took place after several weeks of very dry weather, and ironically the weekend was rather wet. At the time I wrote that although we endured less than ideal conditions, the rain was a blessing for the thirsty fields where the springs crops had not yet come out and the winter crops were languishing. Now this year the several weeks of rain came just when a great deal of the country was declared officially in drought, with all of us here facing a hose pipe ban. It will be a slim consolation for the people involved with Stoke Goldington that the rain has probably been a life saver for a great deal of our countryside. A reminder of how farming is heavily dependant on weather, and sometimes things do not go as we wish...

In any case our calendar is fuller than ever, and hopefully the Summer will have in store some decent weather for us to enjoy the forthcoming events! Our marquee will be ready to welcome visitors, whilst Sandi and I will be ready with our cameras to bring photographic reportages to you quicker than ever! In fact, part of the scope of this new website is indeed to achieve that! More than a facelift, this is a completely new design which will be easier to maintain and update, so that we can bring to you the latest news and the latest event pictures more quickly. The photo gallery displays are also much improved, and Sandi and I will endeavour to do our best photography works! We hope you'll all enjoy it, and if you have any feedback to help us improving this site, please get in touch!
